Grand lady at Timken

Can you imagine wearing metal bodice or corset? How rigid one will be wearing something so stiff! I recently went to the Timken Museum in San Diego, and I saw this painting of Marguerite de Sève, Countess de Fléchères by Nicolas de Largilliere. The painting is beautiful and the lady looks grand and lavish. The bodice however made of metal looked stunning to me, decorated with embossing and jewels. The standard of beauty for woman has changed throughout history, although woman have been under a lot social pressure to look a certain way, I am glad I don't have to wear a corset, let alone a metal one, just to have a tiny waist.

The Timken Museum has some amazing paintings, couple of my favourite is a painting by Brugel and the painting Torment of St. Anthony by Giovanni Girolamo Savoldo which I spent a long time looking at. So if you are in the area, check out the museum and the beautiful balboa park surrounding it.

Not many places have good food, good burger and a great selection of craft beer. It is one thing I miss about Philadelphia. But here at Eureka!, I found the burgers juicy and tasty! and my boyfriend got the craft beer he likes! Of course love the fries. And now they just need quizzo night, my boyfriend's wish.

After a long walk at the beautiful Balboa Park, and saw some art pieces at the Timken Museum.  Our stomachs began to growl. We went to try out the ramen at Ramen Yamadaya.  And I think I found the best ramen in San Diego so far.  The broth is very creamy salty good, the noodles have great texture, good bite.  Is perfect for a cool night after long walks.

Recently moved to San Diego area, I haven't got a chance to explore and don't know my way around...yet. With a craving for a hot bowl of ramen on a cool night, I searched yelp but the options are too many. Tajima Ramen House came recommended through Michael's {boyfriend} co-worker, and there the decision was made.

For appetizers, we had takoyaki {crave!} and mussels dynamite. Takoyaki were extremely good, big chunks of octopus with hot gooey insides, can compare to the time I had takoyaki a winter night in Osaka. The mussels... I am not a big fan of. Although they were well cooked, the taste of mayonnaise just wasn't that great on them.

Now came a nice size bowl of hot miso ramen I ordered. A sip of the broth then a huge smile on my face. The broth was creamy and very tasty, and it was exactly what I wanted. The ramen itself however didn't have that bite, that texture that I am looking for. Sadly the noodles were a bit too soft, but with such good broth, I will still come back for more. I am not too picky with food, but if I have to I can pick on many. I will say the egg in the ramen was too hard and the ramen was too soft. Perhaps it was just my bowl. Michael ordered tonkotsu ramen, and it was just wonderful. The broth was beautiful, and the ramen was good too. Well, I am excited to find more tasty food around the area.
