Spring trend 2014 – floral hairbands

I first discovered TOPSHOP from U.K., it's a young, fun and trendy store that helps me keep up with fashion trends and styles. I don't get to go to the stores anymore after moving away from New York, but I love their online site. Take a look at these beautiful floral hairbands. Love them! They are very affordable, what says spring more than these adorable hair pieces?

Fashion crave | SHOES! | inkkas & Love is Mighty

Let's kick off the week with dazzling shoes!
1 Montezuma Suede Midtop from inkkas / 2 Mango from inkkas / 3 HEERA Jewel from Love in Mighty / 4 BULBUL Nightingale from Love is Mighty / 5 RANI Queen from Love and Mighty

on weekends | BALBOA PARK | RAMEN YAMADAYA

After a long walk at the beautiful Balboa Park, and saw some art pieces at the Timken Museum.  Our stomachs began to growl. We went to try out the ramen at Ramen Yamadaya.  And I think I found the best ramen in San Diego so far.  The broth is very creamy salty good, the noodles have great texture, good bite.  Is perfect for a cool night after long walks.

Grill out at Local Park

Me, husband and little man grilled out today at our local park. We had steak from Costco (very tender and fresh with great value), Artichoke (made sure you boil it first before you grill them to void drying them) and Portobello mushrooms. Many families are out grilled this weekend, it fills the air with delicious food and laughters.

Macarons

Chantal Guillon, a Tea & Macaron Cafe, located on Palo Alto main street.
I had my first Macaron in Paris during my honeymoon. I am hooked ever since I took my first bite of this little delight. I have tried Macarons from whole food, trader joes, local cafes and restaurants and this is by far the best Macarons in the U.S.. I would say they are the same quality if not better than some of the ones in France. It's a must try. The two locations are Palo Alto and San Francisco.
If you ever go to Paris, you must vist the famous laduree, a must visit for any Macaron fan.

I love Pasta!

I love a good homemade Italian Pasta, I love the texture, the freshness and how its so casually piled up but at the same time artfully crafted on the plate. If you ever come visit the Bay area CA, you must check out the Aldo, a friendly little italian restaurant on main street Los Altos.
Here's what I had as appetizer and main course
They start each table with a bread stick cone, fun and great way to begin your meal while waiting for your food...
1) Pepper stuffed prosciutto, salami, cheese
2) Fresh egg pasta with prosciutto and mushroom, fresh peas in cream sauce.
Buon appetito!

Happy failed cooking

Wednesday night I tried cooking at home but end up with a horrible rice noodle dish. I had to confess that I secretly got kinda excited cos I know we'll have to go out for the night. lol... so me and my husband went to Stratch, a bay area downtown American restaurant and had happy hour there.

Both little dishes are so flavorful and they both paired very well with our wine.
1) Bacon wrapped dates with goat cheese salad
2) Thai curry mussels with toasted bread

Then we had over to a sushi restaurant for our main meal. I say the sushi are okay but we had a great laughters and good conversations. (I have to confess that I have pretty high standard for sushi and it takes a real good sushi chief to impress me, let's talk sushi sometime soon)
Here's what we had:

YUM! Happy failed cooking!

Cool and Cute Food Art

Crabbing

I love Crabbing! It's easy, all you need is a string and some chicken.
First, tide chicken (ideally drum sticks) on one end of the string.
Then, throw the chicken into the ocean ( make sure you check and see if it is ideal spot, like near the rocks or if you see any crabs)
Last, Crab will grab onto the chicken and not let go. It's so easy and fun. If you plan to release them, that's great. If you plan to keep it and make a delicious meal, you must make sure they are legal size for
the beach town or country park you're crabbing at.
Happy Crabbing!
